Mercruiser sterndrive
marine engines
Mercruiser has been the most powerful name in boating
for well over 30 years and is an integral part of Mercury
Marine, with 60 years of leading-edge involvement in marine
engine manufacture.
Mercruiser petrol
sterndrives
The Mercury MerCruiser
family of electronically fuel-injected petrol performers borrows the
very best technology from a winning racing heritage and makes it
available to thrill-seeking pleasure boaters the world over.
Brand new for 2002 are the 4.3l MPI and 5.0L MPI, two multi-port
injection engines which have a fuel injector at each intake port for
precise fuel metering and uses the exclusive MerCruiser ECM 555 digital
control of fuel and spark.
Also new is the MX6.2 MPI Horizon, a low maintenance multi-port
injection 6.2 litre engine designed to be more powerful than many a
big-block V8, yet up to 140 pounds lighter. This is the ideal power
source for midsize runabouts, performance boats, fishing craft and
cruisers.
MerCruiser has also introduced 496 Magnum big block engines which
aren't just new — they're light years ahead. These engines are wired
for the future, with the exclusive PCM 555 electronic processor as part
of the revolutionary SmartCraft control system that monitors 64
internal functions and continually adjusts engine operations for
optimum performance. This is a whole new generation of marine engines.
Closed cooling, exhaust risers and hydraulic steering are included.
Enjoy great MerCruiser performance with no holding back: this is the
heart and soul of big pleasure boating.
496 Magnum MPI & 496 Magnum HO
• Exclusive PCM 555 processor optimises fuel delivery, knock control
and ignition timing independently for each cylinder, resulting in
precise performance
• Unprecedented levels of control via SmartCraft integrated boat and
engine monitoring and management system
• Exhaust system is 65% lighter than previous big block cast-iron
components, giving increased performance without the weight, and its
dry connection between manifold and riser will increase life time of
exhaust system
• New ignition strategy and high-tech sensors keep exhaust temperature
constant
• Long-life coolant in closed system lasts up to five years
• Exclusive air-actuated water drain system enables boaters to extend
their season into the colder months
• High specification components throughout designed for best-possible
robustness and extended life
Mercruiser diesel
sterndrives
Until now, think
sportsboat and you would probably think petrol engine. Well think
again. Here is a compact, lightweight diesel sterndrive that can
outperform many a petrol unit yet turn out minimal noise, smoke and
vibration and be utterly miserly on fuel.
The European-built Mercury MerCruiser D1.7L is mechanically direct
injected, turbocharged, aftercooled and includes a wastegate, all to
maximise performance.
With bags of low-end torque there is stunning acceleration and precise
throttle response. This diesel is the most fuel-efficient engine in its
class. Sophisticated technology and advanced materials make it 30%
lighter than other engines of this power. It is extraordinarily quiet.
And it is virtually smoke-free, meeting all current emissions
requirements.
Corrosion-fighting features include closed cooling, the use of a
special low copper alloy in all aluminium components and an exclusive
painting process. There is unsurpassed durability and reliability. This
is state-of-the-art boating.
• Mechanical direct injection
• Turbocharger, aftercooler and wastegate for high power output
• Outstanding fuel economy and range
• Meets all current emissions requirements
• Alpha One is the world's biggest-selling drive
• Ideal choice for twin installations
The highly sophisticated D-Tronics, Mercury MerCruiser's electronic
direct injection diesels with aftercooled turbocharging, bring you the
best of all propulsion worlds.
The D-Tronics provide the low smoke, low noise and low vibration
benefits associated with indirect injection, yet with all the extra
performance features of direct injection. You are assured of really low
emissions and optimum efficiency.
This is the technology for the ultimate in high performance cruising,
provided by the most advanced diesel sterndrives to date. D-Tronic
power options are 165HP, 250HP and 300HP crankshaft, produced by 2.8,
4.2 and 7.3 litre diesel engines respectively. Coupled to any of the
market-leading MerCruiser Diesel Bravo X drives, they will lift your
boating pleasure to new and higher planes.
MerCruiser's high-revving indirect injection option, at 4.2 litres, is
a long-established performance engine with big power, low fuel
consumption and impressive record of durable, reliable, efficient and
clean operation. It is also the only engine of its class to be BSO 2
approved for dual installations on Bodensee lake. This is pleasure
boating at its best.
• Turbocharged and aftercooled for high power output
• Direct or indirect fuel injection systems on six-cylinder models
• All available with choice of Bravo One X, Bravo Two X or Bravo Three
X drives, designed specifically for diesels
• Exclusive XK-360 aluminium alloy provides best-in-industry corrosion
protection
• Bodensee Stage 2 and Swiss Lakes SAV1 emissions approved
• All backed by the extensive Mercury MerCruiser international service
network

outboard marine engines
Mercury 4 stroke
outboards
Mercury four-strokes have
it all. They're quiet, ultra-smooth, smoke-free and extremely fuel
efficient.
There's big power, too, in the high-performing 115 EFI, an in-line
four-cylinder unit with dual overhead cams. Plus the 16-valve, 1596cc
Mercury 90HP and 75HP four-strokes. This is power you can count on,
hour after satisfying hour, wherever your boating takes you.
A computerised ignition system uses a digital electronic control module
for turnkey starting every time. There's power trim, thermostat and
pressure controlled cooling, freshwater flushing, quiet through-prop
exhaust, a gear ratio optimised for superior performance, high volume
water pump for better engine protection with less maintenance,
single-point cable entry for watertight installation, convenient
gas-assist tilt system and much more, including a three-year corrosion
protection warranty.
With Mercury four-strokes, extras come as standard
Mercury Optimax
outboards
The OptiMax family of
engines were the world's first direct-injected outboards.
The 225HP and 200HP power packages combine outstanding performance with
best-yet running qualities and there is a new high-performance 200SX.
Slim V6 powerheads with large displacement provide superior top speed
and acceleration. The sophisticated engine management system
compensates automatically for the slightest change in load, wave action
or weather conditions.
Forty-five per cent better fuel economy. Dependable turnkey starting.
Precision throttling. These are the most advanced outboards yet.
Mercury 2 stroke
outboards
Performance, speed and
quite awesome power. Mercury two-strokes are designed to give all and
take all you can throw at them. This is supreme two-stroke performance,
the power to thrill.
Mercury V6 EFIs are direct descendants of high-performance racing
engines which have dominated powerboat sport from day one, leaving the
crowd in their wake. It's the kind of premier boating that's never been
bettered.
Carburettor models are sophisticated power packs. Enjoy the easy
starting, smooth idling and precise reaction to the throttle. Integral
power trim gets you up on the plane fast and loop-charged induction
improves fuel economy and power across the entire RPM range.
This is peak performance, Mercury style. Performance that's never been
bettered. |
